NYSAT

NEW YORK STREET ADVERTISING TAKEOVER

The NYSAT project was made possible through the hard work and dedication of over a 100 artists, activists, photographers, videographers, lawyers, mothers, fathers, students, teachers, and public citizens. It was a project put on by the folks at Public Ad Campaign. With a group of volunteers and artists, over 120 illegal billboards throughout the city of New York were white washed.
After the billboards were whitewashed, a group of artists hit the streets and painted art on the white washed spaces. Although all locations were eventually covered back in advertisement, for a short while the city of New York was able to enjoy free art in their public space.
